Add several sterile dried carnation leaf pieces, preferably gamma-irradiated,
to Petri dishes just prior to addition of 10 to 15 mL of TWA.

Add minor constituents and agar to 500.0 g distilled water and steam to
dissolve agar. Add glucose rapidly while stirring. Sterilise by steaming for 30
minutes.
Do not autoclave.
Malt

Dice unpeeled potatoes into 500 mL of water, then steam or boil for 30 to 45 minutes.
Melt agar in 500 mL of water. Strain potato through several layers of cheese cloth into
a flask containing the melted agar. Squeeze some potato pulp through the cheese cloth
as well. Add the glucose and mix thoroughly, make up to 1 L with distilled water. Sterilise
by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.
